Born in Racine, WI, He has been a life-long Lutheran and attended Lutheran Schools for 21 straight years! After graduating from Racine Lutheran High School (1980), he received his BA in History at Concordia College in St. Paul, MN (1984), and received his MDiv degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. His first Call was to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jonesville, IN, and in 1994 was called to serve St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard, IL, where he served for over 18 years.
In 1986 he married Diana Wenndt, the sister of a college buddy. Together they raised two sons, Michael A. and Jonathan. Michael, who graduated from Northern Illinois University with a music degree is with his girlfriend Holly in the Pacific Northwest. Jonathan, who graduated from the University of Illinois (Urbana) and is now a nuclear engineer with the federal government, is married to Kirsten who is also a nuclear engineer; they live in the Philadelphia area.
Pastor and Diana also have third “son,” Robert Lunak. Rob came to live with them when he was a junior in High School and now calls them “Mom and Dad.” A graduate of Concordia University Chicago, Rob is a Lutheran School Principal at Mount Calvary in Milwaukee, WI, where he and his wife Brooke (also a Lutheran School teacher) are raising their first son – and Pastor’s first grandchild! – Cato Robert Michael Lunak.
